I have this problem where I would much rather read the story I’m trying to write than actually write it.

i’ve been looking for this post my entire life

I don’t know if anyone has ever done this before but, here ya go… The Different Types of Fanfiction!

I probably left a few out, but these are the most common, compared to their base fiction’s canon plot. Enjoy! XD

SO LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS BOOK I FOUND IN A BOX OF OLD STUFF.
Guys. This is published real person fan fiction. It has five stories about five different girls who more or less run into the five famous gentlemen featured on the cover. This is what’s on the back of the book:

What would happen if—snap!—you turn around and there he is, the celebri-boy of your dreams?
I’magine the possibilities.
Alyson got dissed by her crush—in front of only everyone! She ran off, totally humiliated. And there, all alone, on the beach… was LEO.
At the Hanson concert, TAYLOR sang “I Will Come to You” to Sarah. But she messed up her one chance to meet him, or so she thought. But fate had other plans.
Lisa’s flaky dad has visitation rights. He promises he’ll drive her to her best friend’s sleepover party, but—unsurprisingly—doesn’t show. She’s angry and bummed—and then USHER’s car stops, out of gas, right on her block.

The writing is kind of lolzy—like, the author used “fresh” a lot, even though by 1998 (when it was published) next to no one cool said that unless they were talking about Fresh Prince of Bel-Air—but it works because the way the stories play out are totally like the kind of those fantasies that you have when you’re like, twelve, and daydream about meeting your celebrity crush. Hell, I’m pretty sure that I wrote something similar to one of these stories when I first started writing fan fiction about five months after I bought this book.  [coughs]
